Oracle taking sloppy seconds from AWS, GCP, Azure?
Evry time I see a subpar engineer at one of these three get fired or PIPed out they end up going to Oracle cloud. Oracle is looking for cloud engineers very hard but do they realize they are just getting the big three’s sloppy seconds? How are they going to build a competitive cloud with people who failed out of G, AWS and M? Larry is basically funding severance packages for those 3 companies at this point.
Do they pay good money?
We do not recruit heavily from GCP.
People can get PIP'ed due to bad managers or politics as well. You can't generalize like that. Besides people perform differently in different environment. Good evironment and manager can really get the best out of an employee.
Oracle as a company is subpar to the three you listed. What do you expect?
I don't like Oracle. Fact is I despise its lack of innovation. But what I truly hate is Amazon. So shut the fuck up trying to make Amazon sound better than what it is. It's nothing but the Kmart of companies. You know it.

They can consider that as chance to fix their mistakes.
Which Oracle cloud are you taking about? Is it the one in Seattle? My experience here is that we have a lot of good folks that were burned out from huge AWS operational events, bad managers, folks that got more money than Microsoft was willing to pay, and people that just got bored of being on the same team for 3 years looking for a change. Oracle offered them a change and a raise, so why not test it out? Of course there is garbage here, too, but I don't think it's common, and it certainly existed at my prior company, too. I don't regret switching, and I was not PiPed out :)
You are definitely new to Oracle
Not that new, but I do think the Seattle office is kind of like a weird bubble in Oracle. The rest of the company I've noticed has small pockets of good teams I'm always thrilled to discover, and a whole lot of people doing nothing. What area are you in?
Hmm. Those getting PIP’ed must have cleared the google/amazon/Microsoft bar no? Steve Jobs was also fired from Apple if I recall correctly. I see no harm in competition.

At least recruit people who aren’t looking because they’re getting fired/failed out..?
I don’t think people interviewing at Oracle would tell them that they are being PIPed, most likely the opposite.
