While working at uber can you do outside consulting work part time, say 10-15 hrs a week, mainly on weekends and weeknights? Is someone doing this ? Do you have to let manager know ? Is there company policy against this ?
For msft and amzn, moonlighting is definitely banned. But if you do it discretely, no one will ever check on you.
Snap is chill with it as long as there is no conflict of interest. Up to you if you say something or not. Just do the work on a different set of equipment in off hours and you'll be protected by CA labor code section 96k. Inventions and code are protected by 2870
you can do outside consulting driving people around
I do it, but i keep it to myself. Microsoft has a lax moonlighting policy. As long as its not conflict of interest. In my experience unless you are making a ton of money or its conflicting with your day job, its not a problem. One thing to consider though, I moonlight to discover new problems and find new perspectives. I don't really do it for money. Like you, I'm sure Uber takes good care of you financially.
Yeah, same here not in it for the money, but to learn new stuff. Thanks for your reply.
