Looking for expected total compensation for Senior Staff engineer role at Palo Alto Networks. How much are the yearly refreshers? Also, any idea how many Senior Staff engineers and Principal engineers are in the company? What would it take to move from a Senior Staff to Principal engineer? Current TC : 187 base + 15% bonus
230-250k TC
Be aware some teams prepend "staff" to all their titles so there's some title inflation, so for "senior staff" in those cases the TC should be similar to Google L4 up to L5 pay scale if you're good. It also depends a lot on your team, some are very rich others not so. Promotions are based on performance. If you're good they'll promote you quick. From Sr. Staff to Principal I've seen it done in as little as 9 months. On average it seems to be around 1.5 years. At Principal 300k-350k offers become common. There's also Sr. Principal but I don't see many of them, don't think many people get hired into it, at least not around my team. Regardless of level TC really depends on the team and how much they want you. I've heard of top applicants coming straight from FAANG with ML/cloud experience getting 300k+ for Sr. Staff and 400k+ for Principle.
There is a reason why google named flag. Master with 2yoe made 300k or 420k is not going to happen at PANW, so talk up PANW is not that meaningful. I would agree panw is a great company, just not as great as google. More reasonable, it may be similar or a little worse than nutanix.
I have no idea, as I’ve never worked there but I do know they strangely give out huge offers.
