An actual PhD in CS (and not some diploma mill paper) is virtually impossible. An actual PhD requires 4-7 years of full time work, and by full time I don't mean 40 hours but more like 60+ hours no kids no life per week.

Most my classmate who did a PhD did it in 3-4y and more like 25h a week except the last 6 months were it was closer to 50/60h a week.

I heard that Oxford PhD is 3 years full time. Not heard about any part time programs

Oxford 3 yr phd also requires a 2 yr Masters. US 5 yr phd doesn't.

What.. Most top tier school admissions see that whole point of getting a PhD is so you can devote the rest of your life to research (in either academia or some heavy R&D). If you’re going to complete a PhD and then just return to industry most of the good schools won’t admit you ...
