I’ve realized that teaching gives me way more satisfaction than coding for corporate idiots. But I don’t want to leave my job as it pays well. I would like to be a part time instructor (coding related courses) like on weekends or weeknights. Community colleges come to mind. Not sure what their process or requirements are. Any other suggestions?
There are online universities that hire engineers to teach. The folks who attend these unis are older and more eager to learn and you can do everything from the convenience of your home
You should be able to teach evening classes at UW, most universities have this arrangement.
I’m in the Bay Area
Too many UCs, could try in the lower ranked ones I guess.
I have the same interest as well (also from bay area). So far I have found only tutoring services. There are a couple of community colleges (de anza and foothill) but I haven’t looked into it yet. You can use online platforms like udemy to create and teach your own courses but there are no face to face interactions so you might be well of doing youtube videos lol. Another organization is CodePath. They have opportunities for becoming instructors at bootcamps but they do mobile (ios and android). PS:- if you find anything interesting, please let me know. I might also be interested 😜
There are several organizations that could help you. Codenow is one. No prior teaching experience required.
check some of the CSU’s like SFSU or East Bay. Had a instructor who taught night classes while working in industry.
Guys do companies allow this while you are employed FT?
Approach boot camp organizations like general assembly they may hire part time instructors
