Pay Back Intel Signing Bonus?

I joined Intel earlier this year and received a signing bonus. Unfortunately things have been a bit of a disaster, so I'm having to leave Intel and was wondering how much of my signing bonus I have to give back. My original offer letter doesn't contain a clause indicating that I'd have to pay anything back. Also couldn't find anything in any of the forms I signed during onboarding. I'm afraid to ask HR directly as i want to avoid raising any flags prematurely. Is anyone aware of whether or not there's some standard policy at Intel regarding paying back the signing bonus? Or am I off the hook because there wasn't anything in the offer letter indicating I'd have to pay something back? Is there any risk if I ask HR directly?

If there is no clause or the decision to leave was Intel’s, you shouldn’t have to pay a dime

Decision to leave is mine, sorry I wasn't clear in the original post.

There is no clause, which is in your favor. No need to let them know

An old company such Intel should have something in writing. It is common knowledge that you usually need to pay back if you leave within a year.

I agree, but I cant find anything in writing in my offer letter or in any of the forms I've signed.

Then don't worry. They will tell you how much you need to pay during your exit interview. They might take it out from your last paycheck.

Exit interview? They do those at Intel? I’d just skip that interview

Can’t skip any exit interview. Else your vacations and last paycheck won’t get allocated to you. They want their crap back (laptop , phone , your balls , etc)

Simple. Return it to your manager

You should check to see if there is a related HR policy (i.e. early termination, signing bonus, etc.) documented on Intel’s Intranet site.

That's what I've been trying to do, but cant find anything relevant. Again I'm wary of asking HR directly.

Yeah, pretty sure there is a payback clause. But, congrats on GTFO! What was the straw that broke the camel's back? Many straws, I know.

Most companies wont ask for it. Dont bring it up yourself and if it does come up, request that they don't ask for it. This is negotiable

I think Only relocation needs to be returned if leaving within 1 year

Intel JK7 Oct 26, 2018

If there is no mention of any money return upon voluntary departure before a certain time you don't owe them anything

I resigned after working there for a month. There was not anything written in offer or anywhere in the final documents indicating we have to return the bonus. I left 3 weeks ago and got my final paycheck within 72 hours, they have not asked for sign on bonus yet.

Intel JK7 Oct 26, 2018

If you were wise enough to leave within a month, you are qualified enough to be our CEO :P

How much was your signing bonus if you don't mind my asking?
