Have an upcoming phone interview at compass. Want to know what kind of questions to expect. Do they ask behavioral / design as well ? What kind of topics are likely?
Leetcode medium.
1 LC easy, but if you ever say the word "telephonic" during the interview, 2 LC hards.
“Are you worried about the mass exodus of all of your leadership?” “Do you feel happy with your recent comp increase? Do you think these non existent increases will continue?” “Are you worried about your equity becoming useless?” These are questions you should ask.
Wow! Is it really that bad?
Just give it a quick google and you’ll see for your self.
FU is correct. Compass is a disaster and has zero path to profitability. Your RSUs/Options will likely never be worth anything. Ask for as high a base as possible and zero equity. The culture is fine as long as you don’t have to deal with leadership and there is free lunch everyday. It’s a fine place to work as a stepping stone, but not somewhere you’ll build a career. In P&E, average tenure is barely over a year. Most people stay for a year to keep their signing bonus and then bounce. Another pro-tip is to negotiate a big signing bonus.
That’s what I did, I took a higher base for a smaller amount of equity. FU doesn’t have any idea how things are currently at Compass though besides what he hears from current employees and what he reads in the news though, as he no longer works there.
I'm happy to refer any of you to Redfin. :)
