I'm contemplating to move from Seattle to San Francisco for a new opportunity. I currently live in a micro apartment ( a 300sqf studio) in Capitol Hill by myself and no pets. I would want to get a place in an area similar to Capital Hill which is still alive and safe after 8pm. As im a workaholic and usually finishing work at 8 or 9pm and then go to get some dinners. Any suggestions as where you folks live in San Francisco? I'm paying more or less $1,800 per month now and expect to pay more but don't have a sense if it is 20% more or need to be much more.
Make sure to take the commute into consideration. Also, think about roommates, you can get a good room for 2k or even less depending on the location. Hayes valley and lower Haight might be a good fit for you.
Micro studios here go for the same price, half the size and in a semi-grittier neighborhood. Good neighborhoods like The Mission, Nob Hill, North Beach, Potrero Hill etc. have studios upwards of $2500 or so
Really? The ones in SoMa start at $2200
2200 studio in soma will be very small, old and barebones. Not to mention not the best after 8pm.
The BART
If you want to live in SF consider cost, safety, and location. You definitely can’t have all 3, unless you have roommates. That being said, any place outside tenderloin is prob fine (just depends on how much homeless people bother you)
There is homeless issue in Seattle as well, especially in Capitol Hill. As long as the homeless don't come to bug others, i m okay with it.
Homeless is SF are more aggressive than the ones in Capitol Hill.
I would say there aren’t a whole lot of safe areas after 8 pm in San Francisco. Just pick the relatively safest based on what you can afford https://sfgov.org/services/sf-crime-maps
UndefinedError. Property “safe after 8pm” does not exist in class “San Francisco.”
Relative to Capital Hill? Plenty
True. Capital Hill is not safe either...at any time of day.
