Im software engineer with around 3 yoe graduated from a decent school & working in a fintech company in nyc. I'm planning to move to west coast for personal reasons but finding it incredibly hard to do so. from contacting the reluctant recruiters to flying 6+ hours for every single onsite is taking a toll on my current work. Is anyone willing to provide a referral for sde/se roles. I'm Leetcoding regularly and was able to get an offer from a bay area company and another one from here in nyc, unfortunately the bay area company is not doing so well at the moment. will really appreciate internal referrals, thanks in advance.
Everything involves risk, yes you can mitigate some of that risk but you have to make a decision and follow through. Your lack and fear to just make the move makes me think, as a SDE, you prefer status quo and don't want to learn new ways, embrace new languages, standards, etc. Become an adult and save up from your current job and move! Stop crying about 6 hour flights, fear of a company "not doing good", etc those are ALL excuses why you haven't become a man/woman vs boy/girl and made the move. I'm sorry that your mommy and daddy didn't grow a pair and tell you, life is filled with tough choices, do cry about it, change it!!
Wow, who hurt you?
thanks for the encouraging write up however the fear here isn't about me not being an adult like you assumed but more about uncle Sam's visa policies. I'm an immigrant so I can't just 'save up from the current job and move' without making sure that I'll end up with a valid visa with my new employer. nonetheless, thanks for the advice, let me know if you can refer to a few opportunities as I had originally asked in the post.
Take the offer from the company that is not doing well, is your ticket to bay area. Stay there 1 year while all is settle, then move wherever you want.
try triplebyte
Could be good. I personally absolutely hate triplebyte. Felt the test was pure wacko.
You should relocate here to that Bay Area company and continue doing leetcode. This way you will be a drive away from all future interviews
