Joined in late H2 2017 as E4, and got too new to evaluate. Performed well in H1, shipped several high profile features and gave team the direction it was lacking. I though that I will be evaluated for E5 in H2, or H1 2019. But the feedback I got this half has been outstanding and people are happy about my leadership skills. My manager also gave me similar feedback. Is E5 possible in this half? Do I ask for it or is it given automatically if I deserve it?
I think you need to perform at the level for 2 halfs continuous. And you should have calibration conversations with manager. It shouldn’t be a question.
The 2 halfs bit is not a strict rule.
Are you E5 exceed? Then yes, promo is likely. E5 meets? probably not.
It’s possible, but don’t get your hopes too high up. Ideally you should check in with your manager a couple times over the half to see if you’re on track.
Isn't E4 still about your coding and design and less of your leadership?
Yes. But I would still say coding and design might be like 60-70%.
