Put citizenship status on resume?
Should I mention I’m a US Citizen on my resume? I have a foreign sounding name and they may assume I’m H1b. yoe: 4 tc: 185
I have a friend with a unisex-sounding name and they put "Gender: Female" on their resume lol. So yeah, you can.

Sure, put “US Citizen, no work authorization or sponsorship required” at the bottom. Some roles are only open to citizens.
Employers are not allowed to hire differently based on citizenship status, strangely enough. It may be worth mentioning that you are eligible to work in the US without a visa though
Who told you that? The entire premise of H1B is that only after the company has exhausted the pool of US citizen worker pool can they hire from outside.
The companies are not only allowed to discriminate based on citizenship but rather they have to prefer US citizens

seat is correct. The company would have to scrub your CV of any protected status information to avoid exposure. You are caught in a bind: you cannot state your status because it's protected, but it does not actually protect you You can try and sneak things in, especially in a cover letter, like a reference to high school or where your parents work
At lower levels of TC this probably makes a difference. At higher levels, no one cares if you're an H1B, the cost is miniscule compared to how much they pay. Source: I'm an H1B and had trouble with this right out of school, but now no one cares. 2 YOE 230K TC L4
230k if you are in the bay area and T4 at Google is not necessary "higher level"
Lol I meant if you're paying greater than 200k to your employees, cost of hiring/maintaining h1b for your employees is miniscule compared to total package including benefits, perks, etc. Companies seem to care a lot more if the pay isn't as high since they'll have to spend substantial percentage of the cash they're paying you just to keep you in the US. When I was in college, most local companies would not hire H1bs unless in a senior role. T4 at Google is definitely not a high level, it's one promo after new college grad.
YES. Or, no sponsorship required. Everyone commenting no are either citizens or white. Another trick is to give yourself a white nickname and put that on your resume

Well there is nothing stopping you from adding a tab that you are a proud US Citizen. Not many organizations would care about it. It’s a good price of information to have. Good luck 👍🏼
