The law states that if an employee leaves before a 2 year window, the employee has the burden of proof that they accepted the job offer in good faith to the UNCIS. A reasonable time would be 6m-1year, but you will be under the review of the UNCIS. If after two years you leave your employer- than the UNCIS has the burden of proof to prove that you didn't accept the job offer in good faith- and it was for residency. It’s not 6 months after you receive your GC. It’s 6 months after you FILE your AOS.
Rules have changed a lot. As long as it’s 6 months AFTER you filed your AOS (filed, not approved) and you stay within the same field, you are fine.
