Quit my Amazon job bc of manager/ looking for insight on moving/working abroad?

I quit my job with AWS about a month ago because of a shitty manager and what it was doing to my mental health. Just got back from a vacation and feel so much better. I had time to clear my head and realize I really want to move to Europe for my next role.

Sales/Sales Enablement/Program Management is my background and I am pretty technical and cloud certified. 6YOE

Has anyone else gotten jobs overseas? Any advice with resumes/VISA sponsors/etc.?

Thanks, Blind!

American, white, female. Ironically she had it out for all the women on her team (myself included)

Hmm. In my case, a couple of experiences with female managers - they create hostile environment for males, and treat females with kid gloves. Every male on the team has to be a NASA astronaut.

However, wishing you all the best. And sorry to hear about the torturous period you have been through. Prayers for better times ahead 👍

Managers have way too much power & too little accountability.

Dublin apparently is a good market. No language issues plus most top companies have some presence there. Start with your LinkedIn connections.

Pay is considerably lower on a gross level but with higher taxes. However, it’s an amazing lifestyle

Op, just curious have u thought about options in US as back up? I’m in a similar boat where I volunteered myself for RIF (due to bad boss and culture, and company not doing well. Was at a start up not at GoPro). currently unemployed. Happy to share where I’m looking and all if u wanna DM me.

I have worked in Europe in the past and Language is a key factor while finding a job there. Try to find a job in area where you can speak the local language. If you just speak English then US is the best place in tech.

How did you find your job? Did you transfer with an American company or just apply to what you found on LinkedIn/Glassdoor/Indeed/etc.

It was an internal transfer for few months. I don’t have much idea on the job websites.

    • I work in Europe and this isn’t true for all countries. With only English you’ll be fine in Germany and the Nordic countries for sure. You’d only really be screwed in Italy, Spain, and most of France.

I know a few people who founds jobs in places like Amsterdam, Zurich without language skills as there are so many international companies. Both found jobs before getting there but it really depends on the profession I think. Give it a go!
