I’ve been at Amazon about 5 years and have learned all I feel I’d like to learn here so I’m planning to move on in September. I’m curious if there is anything I should be aware of or do prior to leaving. (I do not have another job lined up after, I’m going to take a little time off and recharge.) Have you left amazon? What do you wish you did or didn’t do before leaving? I’m especially interested in strange technical things that no one talks about regarding health insurance or stocks. Thanks!
Why not leave in November, take those stocks
Don’t have a vest in November. :)
Don't leave. Weigh out your options. I regret leaving amazon.
You can use the tech survey to try and find a really chill team. Otherwise, just document your brain dump behind the scenes, and give your two weeks notice. If there are people on the team you really trust, you can mention it earlier. Your health coverage is good until the end of the month, so might as well leave on July 1st or equivalent. Make sure you have contact info for the people you want to stay in touch with for work/networking purposes. Check for interesting PoA talks and take them in before you leave.
I wish I never spoke to HR. Keep your head low and don’t tell anyone on your team you’re leaving. Good luck 👍
Thank you! Just curious, how much notice did you give?
