RSU refresher
Got the Uber 5a offer recently. Just noticed that I have $105k in equity refresh. I plan to join in Feb, how much should I expect to get in my first year? Should I consider RSU refresher as part of TC for first year? FYI: 191 base + 21.5 bonus + 17k RSU* 40.88; no sign-on YOE: 5
Very solid offer! Refresher will be 11/12 of your target refresh.
No stocks in first year. You get 1/4 of your initial grant at end of your first year, and based on performance may get a refresher grant at the end of 2019 which vests monthly over 3 years. Your target refresher for 2019 will be 11/12 your usual target because you will work here for 11 months in 2019. Good offer for your yoe btw, are you back end or what? Any counter offers?
Yes, backend. No competing offer, so Uber is not willing to negotiate or give me sign on.

The interview was relatively easier than Google, which I failed. 2 coding + 2 system design + 1 hiring manager behavior. System designs are mainly about data streaming, so I used Kafka. Coding are more leetcode median, not exactly, but some variations.
