Ok, here is a question. Everybody knows that racial discrimination is not ok. But nowadays I hear a lot of discrimination based on ethnicity. For example, people point out that I'm working in a company with Russian founder as something I should be ashamed of. FBI doesn't like my employer right now, but they do not provide any evidence of wrongdoing. Do you think that ethnicity discrimination is as bad as racial or not? P.S. Let's let antisemitism as ethnicity discrimination alone P.P.S. It's not only about Russians. I talked to a white guy from Cupertino last month who complained about Asians. He said they created so competitive environment in schools that other kids (including his kids) are having hard times adjusting.
The problem is not that kaspersky is Russian but that they are in cahoots with the FSB.
There is no evidence of it. There is more evidence that Facebook is in cahoots with FSB, you guys accepted payments from FSB for targeted campaign.
Russians are doing this thing where they constantly complain about foul play, while abusing and breaking all possible rules and be proud of it. It's cultural. I think it's OK to discriminate against cultures.
No group discrimination is ok, unless the group itself is inherently evil. Saying this person is from here, or looks like this, therefore X is never ok.
Well the founders were KGB so you got to be a bit careful
I don't know. He was at KGB controlled math and crypto school. But all good schools in soviets were KGB controlled. And he wasn't even hired to KGB afterward. I know our global security researchers, they are decent guys and super smart, I would never believe they wouldn't find out something like that and if they would, I don't believe they would stay. a lot of them work for company for 8+ years.
so the russians have no problem with pissing on international laws and ignoring all international resolutions they don't like, but as soon as there's a tiny push back, they start whining like little bitches and complaining about fairness? grow a pair
Look, you probably are talking about Russian government and Putin. And I 100% agree about your judgement about it. But basically the only sure thing that is being said about Kaspersky, that if Putin would like to take control over company's servers with user data he would. And I can imagine FSB putting guns to all our engineers heads, and we have around 1500 engineers and Russia and saying what? Hack Trump? Steal Hillary emails? But if you're an engineer, tell me, is it that simple? If you take control over MSFT servers tomorrow can you become a king of the world?
Ethnicity discrimination tend to fluctuates more with the political climate. It may not follow you from country to country. You may not have experienced it's impact all of your life or across previous generations. Racial discrimination often is accompanied by institutionalized racism. It may create poverty across generations and create significant barriers to access education, financial instruments, healthcare, legal justice, and mobility.
Is Indians discrimination racial or ethnical?
Ethnicity discrimination is bad but not as bad as racial discrimination. At the end of the day, a Russian American is still white and benefits from white privilege.
Discrimination is discrimination no matter what people should be judged on their character and merits not race or ethnicity
People don’t think you should be ashamed of your company because the founders are Russian, they think that because they’re collaborating with the Russian government.
Which also looks like complete bullshit so far. There is no evidence of it. Our company publicly reported Russian espionage. But it also reported American espionage. German Security Service, Brazilian army, Australian government have no problems with our technologies, and I don't think they are stupid or love Putin.
Why the PS? That doesn't make any sense.
I mean everyone knows that antisemitism is bad
