The inherent problem is most people and the public do not understand the complexities of property rights. Different types of deeds and what or how to appraise property. Tech will always be there but one thing can not change is the need for expert guidance and protection for the biggest asset purchases of most peoples lives. Yes block chain may impact some aspects of title. But if you are in a state that recognizes actual notice the same as constructive notice- your ownership may be challenged and title insurance may not protect you. This is modern day scalping and cheating people of their property rights and fair market value.
Redfin and ibuyer tech has a place for a select demographic. Fact is these companies lure a seller into listing for a low low commission but when you look at the bottom line in charges. You would have saved more commission money and gotten fair market value by going the traditional route. Btw good agents stop their world and take great pride in finding money to save for their customers, saving them time and trouble that the buyers and sellers won’t even experience bc of the skill care and diligence of a real live committed person.

That proves my point. An experienced real estate broker or instructor is an excellent resource for the common public.

Well a RE agent said the same about SWEs. Each profession has its own challenges which we have no clue about.

PropTech Is taking a run at realtors.

The landscape will look very different within 1000 days.

Redfin agents, Zillow Offers, Opendoor, even (ewww) blockchain based technologies are forcing a dilution of the role of realtors/title agents and sending the realtor association cartels (that’s what they are) into a frenzy across the nation.

Of course they will still be realtors (Uber/Lyft didn’t kill Yellow Cabs), but disruption is coming and it will be felt in wallets.
