TC 200k YOE 5, + Masters degree Joined self driving UX team a month ago at level 1, only to realize two levels above me are either less exp or the same as me. Not finding them very competent, coming from a start up. They've had all their exp in the same company. Learning curve for me is more of company specific. Everyone at my level are mostly new grads. Regretting for not negotiating on the level. I feel it is easy to move up. But I may be wasting my years? Any suggestions here? Should interview elsewhere? I'm also worried about having a mark of quitting soon. But I know pay could be increased by 30%.
Edited to clarify.
What is pride person
If its that easy to move on, do so. I’m glad I don’t work with you.
Why are you bitter about other’s confidence?
Likely for the same reason you can’t tell the difference between whining and contempt
If it’s easy to move up, just perform well. I have heard they promote fast.
Yep, promo within first year is not very difficult. What do you think about the comp? I'd be making 210ish with 6.5 years exp.
Could be higher. How much is your equity? Do you have the options or RSUs?
Depends what level you get in at, though I would assume at least 4, so maybe $250k+. Stock doesn’t have as much upside (or downside) potential as Tesla though. Tesla could 10x in 5 years. That’s not possible with FAANG. Why did you go there over apple in the first place?
Apple's offer was from an internal applications team. Very similar in terms of comp, WLB. Interned at Apple during undergrad and didn't want to go back. Self driving team at Tesla was an eye attraction. Bombed the interview with Google.
Can you share more about your reason for not returning to Apple?
You can ask for re-leveling and threaten to leave. Not much to lose...
