Recently I have been in touch with some recruiters that have been using emojis in email correspondence. Not text, but actual emails. Is this a common thing? I do not understand some of these emoji images so it is confusing to me 😡
Most recruiters are young. This is the new version !!!!!
I worked in a marketing automation company for a while. It was ... crazy informal, in a way that made me uncomfortable. Everyone from sales to tech support peppered their emails and IMs to customers with emojis. People who hadn't worked anywhere else just thought that was normal, and actually called me out for being "boring" in my comms. No problem with the odd meme in slack with team mates. But...coming from your CEO, during an earnings call ? This has to be my version of laughing at people who work in a suit.
I received a few before but shrug. They weren’t from companies I want to work for so I just moved on.
I had this from an Amazon recruiter. I actually almost deleted it because I thought it was spam.
Messages from amazon recruiters are spam though. I probably get more than one a day. 🤦♂️
I lived enough to see emoji shaming be a thing. Wow.
GTFO boomer 😤👉🚪
🙄😡😤 Expletives at you deleted in the interest of civility and not lowering myself to your level despite my advanced age.
Emoji is here to stay. If you don’t love them you’re free to get off the Internet 🙃
If appropriate emotions are conveyed, I don't see anything wrong with emojis in email. I'm older than Star Wars movies! ☺️
People: It is hard to understand emotion in emails. They all seem cold. Also people: OMG emojis are terrible.
Our PM is like that. At some point he stopped by and asked if we're alright, since my messages seemed "very cold" to him. On my attempt to clarify he said that I even put period (!) in the end of each sentence.
Periods may be seen as passive aggressive if you don’t ‘always’ use them. 😂
End every sentence with an exclamation point! And then every once in a while try two exclamation points to assert dominance.....!!
