Considering joining Robinhood or Airbnb as a new grad instead of returning to FB (prev intern). TC at Robinhood/Airbnb is slightly higher, but rsu is not liquid. What are the pros and cons of choosing one or the other? Here’s what I thought of so far: Pros of Facebook: - Seattle (Lower CoL and no state income tax) - Good mentorship - Strong resume entry/prestige - Job Security Cons of Facebook: - Lower TC ($20k/yr less) - Hiring bar seems to get lower each year; it might not be a great place to work in 2-3 yrs (dispell this rumor if im wrong) - Not ideal trajectory rn Pros of Robinhood/Airbnb: - Large upside (IPO soon) - Prestigious - I can have higher impact on the company Cons of Robinhood/Airbnb: - Interviews were pretty easy. it seems like they’re just mass hiring - Not that excited about their products - Unsure about engineering quality (I never worked at a startup) - Most of their engineers look like new grads/low experience TC at FB: 200 TC at startups: 220
Robinhood definitely. Great company
If I were you I would choose Robinhood.
Congratulations! I’d say go with AirBnB or Robinhood. You can join Facebook after a year or whenever you want. Joining a well established start up is rare.
I agree that this is a great strategy.
200 TC as new grad? Wow
Cons of facebook: Seattle. Airbnb is not IPOing soon, they do not have a CFO. Neither is robinhood, too early. Facebook probably hires 10x as many new grads as airbnb/robinhood so mass hiring shouldnt really be a con for the startups. That being said, you should probably go to airbnb or robinhood, whichever one is more interesting to you
Airbnb for SF location (or FB if you can join NYC office). Cities are better lifestyle for new grads, and I’d say NYC > SF > SEA > MPK
Do you have an offer?
Yes, all 3
If I were you, I’d join Robinhood. Airbnb and FB are too large, not a lot of opportunities to learn and make impact
Not FB, you will have the responsibility of 1/10 an engineer
Please share or TC or else as people say GTFO.
