Base 114k Sign on y1 38k y2 28k RSU 55 shares Those are initial numbers. Will consider only if the offer is improved. The recrutier asked my feedback after told me the details. What can be improved? It’s based in NYC. Updated: 130k base 48k & 38k sign on 68 RSU Also received a late stage startup in NYC offer 200k TC Any thoughts are welcome
This is worse than new grad offer wow (for Amazon)
I know! Literally told the recrutier that’s below expectation on spot
TC you should aim with 4 yoe should be 170k. You have 152k
Got it. I guess I’ll talk to them. If it doesn’t work out then too bad. The recruiter said the feedbacks are mostly positive. I didn’t have a perfect interview loop but it was decent. Messed up one coding round but that i did great on the LP and the interview said you are so close to it. The design is not perfect but it’s decent, that Senior SDE told me his favorite LP is hiring and developing the best, then I knew he’s the bar raiser
typical amazon low ball. dont take it
Won’t take this for sure. I’m wondering how much can be improved
Can you interview with more companies? You might be able to pull off equivalent of SDE2 somewhere with 4yoe. Amazon will make you sweat for a while for that promotion (can easily take 2.5y+ depending on team and your performance)
It's lower than you expected because you probably got downleveled feom sde2 to sde1 in the interview. With 4 yoe you should be able to get promoted in <1 year if you're decent
that’s amazon bs. don’t take this offer. amazon promo <1 is not a promise.
I understand it’s downleveled, unless the position they referred me is SDE I? Didn’t ask the recruiter what’s the level in the first place. However this looks like new grads SDE I offer
You can only get so much for SDE1 at Amazon. None of which will justify your 4 yoe unless you've been doing nothing substantial during that time. Think you should expect to decline the offer, but at least see how much more they're willing to give.
That’s fair. I’ve doing pretty interesting and scalable systems for object detection during the past year. Yeah I’m interesting to see how much more they are willing to give. The recruiter said tell me what do you think and we can work on that. Though I don’t have much expectation
Recruiter told me the new numbers after I stated my counter. 130k base, 68 shares RSU, 48k and 38k for the sign on, which is slightly worse than my counter. It’s a good offer for this position. Any thoughts?
178k is your TC. That’s good. You’re at the high end of L4. Congrats! Pretty steep correction which is cool. Get promoted to L5 in 12-15 months. L5 is 182k-242k TC
Thank you! Yeah, it’s a good offer for L4. Probably won’t bump too much after promotion in a year or two. I do just received another offer from a late stage NYC startup, which offers 200k tc at a higher level (though startup level is a bit less strict than tech giants) I’m still deciding, not a easy choice at this moment since I didn’t interview much
How much is your clarifai TC? are ML engineers there doing real ML stuff or just deployment, QA, and ops stuff?
Definitely below average. Don’t recommend coming here if you have other option. The only good thing is that the work is very interesting and challenging if you are into computer vision and object detection stuff. I do think ML engineers doing real ML stuff
Base - 130k (at least) Rsu - 70 shares
Should I just tell recrutier that’s my expectation? I’m terrible talking with recruiters over the phone
That's what Blind is for. https://teamcandor.com/salary/guide/
