Hi folks, I was approached by a Splunk recruiter about their SDET opening. Could anyone from Splunk shed some light about SDET? Is this a valued role or just a fancy name for manual testers? And is there any hiring bar difference between SWE and SDET? Recruiter did tell me SDET is a 80%+ coding role, SWE and SDET are treated eqaully and the bar is similar, just want to hear someone from the inside to confirm how true is that. Thanks!
It is always a lie. SWE is always better. The recruiter has a role to “sell” - it’s your problem after that if you get it and accept.
Wouldn't say they are equal bet SDET isnt/shouldnt be manual tester. It's automating tests/building automation frameworks. Title of Software Engineer is worth much more than SDET
