There's way too many teams and orgs to say. It also depends on whether you like operational work, or prefer to mostly do development or what.

I am not an SRE. But I interact with a lot of SRE in the data infra org. And I can tell you for sure that they have good work like balance. They do some software engineering even if they are SRE. And they aren’t always fighting fires (mostly they are not fighting fire)

You sound like an ex-EBay employee, who is now barrier to entry to others 😂

Apple SRE: (mostly) good talent, shit tech stack
    LinkedIn: vice versa.
You can choose to make a dent at LinkedIn, but heard the politics are awful there in most orgs.

I don’t know where did you hear about politics at LinkedIn. I have worked at 4 companies so far (start and big names included), and LinkedIn is the least political place by all measures.

I know two smart and good people that told me, one left for FB, and when I interviewed onsite I did not get good vibes from the host manager. But that said, I don’t want my comments to be misleading, if what you’re saying is true then good for you.

You will be fascinated about LinkedIn’s culture and WLB. Don’t go to Apple. It’s worst decision I’ve ever made.

They are not hiring for SRE it seems as of now. I get rejection email whenever I apply or maybe Google is not liking my resume ;). However, I get reached out for Sysadmin role immediately which I am not interested in.

How much coding experience do you have? Google is definitely still hiring SREs, but the target candidate might be slightly different from SRE at other companies.

I have pretty good experience at coding, I spent almost all the time developing/improving tools for automation. But it seems they are giving more preference to Unix systems admin and programmer role. I applied twice and got mail for rejection for SE, SRE
