When it comes to their core I don't really like "crazy" system administration or programming. I just like to solve really hard problems related to anything in between and also security wise. I like to relax and think about problems then try some solutions. Is there a place, city, position that could be best for me? Google phone interviewer sent me to SRE recruiter.. can I solve whatever problem I want as SRE? Is it worth to move to Bay area for that role? Looking at TCs here I feel like I'll be poorest person out there even if I somehow go through.
Since SREs have to be available to solve some problems really fast does it mean they need to be less "busy" to be able to respond to what's going on and monitor it? Google has so much money I'm not even sure what their goal is exactly
SRE and SWE project work is the exact same in terms of planning. SRE just solves problems fast when they are oncall which is like once every 30-50 days in healthy teams. (SWE also does oncall but SRE is mostly more aggressive but pays more..)
you can solve hard problems as SRE but idk about relaxing 😂
