My weekly rate increased but I was not told beforehand nor was I offered a salary increase or promotion... I think there may have been a mix up. What's the best course of action I should take and who should I speak to...?! I don't wanna get in trouble ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ Edit: gotta point out that I've been in the company <1 year and my gross earnings has increased. Yes I checked my paystubs and I have not maxed out on 401k or SS or anything else. I make under 100k (under 120k with my new rate).
Say nothing and keep it. Why would you get in trouble?
Check with HR... either way you will be better for it
When it’s increase never say.when decrease say immediately
I once got a mysterious 8k direct deposit at tax time. 🤐
Long time back, I had similar weird experience. I was about to join a company but I requested them to move the joining date by a month since I was still interviewing for better opportunity. Somehow the HR didn't update my new joining date and I started getting paycheck every 2 weeks!!
Do you still get them
You are saying, you already have a start date - meaning accept the offer, but still interviewing others? Seriously?
You paid the max social security withholding for the year. The first $131000 is taxed an additional 12%, after you’ve paid that, they stop taking that money from your paycheck until next year when it restarts. Enjoy the tax free money 🤑
I dunno about that. They added $$$$ to my earnings and now I pay more to taxes.
That's exactly how pretax deductions work. They lower your taxable income.
Regardless of what you do, you won't get in trouble since you didn't do anything to cause the change.
Lol what's up big head
This 😂
Hahaha
Do you mean your paystub has increased or bank account is getting more? Most of people’s paycheck increases around October and November because social security tax was withheld from your paycheck only up to that point. If this is the case, it doesn’t mean actual increase. Rather it is subtraction from your paycheck based on estimation. Next years tax return will calculate how much you owe or get credit from your estimated tax and reveal it.
Can I message you to explain cuz I think a lot of people think it's related to tax, but I'm not really sure.
I have seen companies correct their mistake. Set the money aside, Say nothing. Wait a few months after you leave the company before spending it.
Most likely u maxed out on your 401k and it just adjusted your take home
Nope
Any other pretax deductions that could have been maxed out? HSA maybe?
