Salesforce Admin role is neither engineering nor operational or administrative, what kind of of role it?
Salesforce admin is not a typical IT admin work. In most cases, Salesforce admin do the development work as well. Adding fields, process builder, page layouts changes, reports and dashboards etc are all comes under admin activities. These are very different than what a typical IT administrator does. Also in many cases Salesforce admins are aligned with business teams and handles business users requirement. Hope this helps.
I’ve been doing SFDC admin for about 5 years. The typical job for junior admins is a lot of truly “administrative” work. Controlling permissions, accesses, etc. the more senior you get you tend to gravitate towards 1 of two paths: Sales ops and strategy which is a lot of implementations use case evaluations etc, or the developer side which is focused on building custom applications, integrating other systems via api, etc.
If you enjoy the work SF Dev and tech arch and pretty lucrative. Sales engineering is easy work compared to consulting as well. Good admin path to SE
So I sat for the admin exam and passed it BUT it seems most companies are wanting at least 2 years experience...how do I break in?
Usually falls within IT system administration
