Samsung Research America good as Microsoft?

I have offers from both Microsoft and SRA, mtv in similar teams. Any comparison on culture, growth and opportunities? Would SRA be as good as MS? Is MS worth moving to Seattle from SF? Edit: Seattle seems as comfortable with foreigners as Bay Area.

Seattle hostile to foreigners ? It's one of the more liberal cities in the US. Living on the Eastside (where Microsoft HQ is), you'll have no issues at all.

Any suggestion if SRA is as good as MS?

Seattle is super liberal and Microsoft is super inclusive. Everyone here just seems competent and nice. There will obviously be an asshole here and there. Ballmer culture has been replaced by Satya culture.

Any idea if Samsung compares with Microsoft?

Samsung culture is highly dependent on whether you're Korean or not.

I'm just trying to understand why MS AI is more impressive in general than Samsung. Samsung is giving more research and publication flexibility.

Samsung is not particularly good to work for, and is not really a "great place" to work. Quite a few reasons why, but much of it stems from the Korean HQ. You will have pockets that are quite good, teams, parts, maybe groups, but that is it.

Samsung is definitely better than Microsoft in terms of freedom. However, depending on the org, you could either end up with a great mentor or a ass stupid guy who just thinks he's always right, this is the case with both companies. The pros being that I've been with Samsung is you get to file patents and do independent research if you've the accumen to do it. Being younger, I would suggest you to join Samsung and try it out, if you don't like there's always recruiters knocking.

This is probably the biggest lie I have ever read. SRA is pathetic crap, there is no innovation first of all to file patents, nepotism throughout, koreans won’t allow you to do anything. You are expected to stay in office even if you are way ahead of schedule and have given deliverables
