“On September 5 we are going to introduce legislation to end the absurdity of middle class taxpayers having to subsidize large, profitable corporations, many of which are owned by billionaires. If Amazon, Walmart and other corporations won’t pay their workers a living wage, our bill would establish a 100 percent tax equal to the amount of federal benefits received by their low-wage workers. The American taxpayer should not be subsidizing the richest people in history so they can underpay their employees.” https://www.sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/sanders-response-to-amazon-statement-on-working-conditions
Amazon should be broken up with antitrust laws
Yo Bernie and bros, if you have balls then go after Walmart or Koch brothers. No, you won’t because you are a chicken. Let’s target soft ones like Amazon.
He mentioned Walmart in case you forgot your reading glasses 👓. So you think Amazon is soft? Lol 😂
I'm not hot on Sanders overall, but the testicular fortitude he's got is on point and undeniable.
He has balls just like any other man and he is not afraid to use them
Sanders is officially in “fuck you” age. Once people get old enough, they no longer give a fuck about image and opinions, they just do that they think is right because they might not wake up tomorrow. Ex. Look at McCain giving tRamp a middle finger in every speech and every action.
I hope this does not have the unintended consequence of the corporations trying to get government aid cut to these people. That's another way they can cut their tax proposed in this bill.
“The American taxpayer should not be subsidizing the richest people in history so they can underpay their employees.” More to the point, employees should not be underpaid in order to make these companies the richest in history. US productivity and the value produced have increased but those increases have only gone to the company as wages stagnated for 40 years thanks to decades of pro-employer legislation and attacks on unions. Bernie wants to address this through the ballot and the congressional bill hopper - These “right to work” laws and so on should be reversed but I think it will take the picket, not the ballot to really change this situation.
It will take both. The picket and the ballot
Agreed!
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/08/bernie-sanders-is-officially-getting-under-jeff-bezos-skin “Count to ten,” he [sanders] wrote in another tweet. “In those ten seconds, Jeff Bezos, the owner and founder of Amazon, just made more money than the median employee of Amazon makes in an entire year.”
This is the only thing I kinda agree with Bernie on. In a true capital system the labor will be paid according to market. But due government assistant programs workers get by lower wages. Those assistant programs are funded by tax payers. No government assistant programs = higher wages for workers. Btw Blackberry??? That’s like a snow leopard citing.
Snow what?
Low wages are due to govt programs -- that's rich. Corps are magically going to be incentivized to pay higher wages? Get real
