Deciding between living in MV/Sunnyvale vs commuting from SF. Besides a few friends being there, I’m also considering that SF will be a better place to network to find good startup opportunities, meetup events to learn latest tech faster, and generally being at the center of tech. For these reasons I’m considering SF despite the much longer commute. Is this a good reasoning? Is it actually going to be worth it? I’m single young male, I just wanna go all out and try to maximize Growth
I lived in MV for 6.5 years until everyone from my friend group moved away. I’m now loving SF. I love the vibe, the neighborhoods, not having to drive, public transport, walkability, proximity to nature and oceans, and young people surrounding me that are similar to me. It took time to adapt to commute, but I take the 7:30 bus, work on the bus, take the first 3:30 bus back, stop working at 5pm and now things are fine. It’s less working hours than I did when I lived in MV. I say move to SF and make it work. When things seem unpleasant, find the good side and maintain a positive attitude. Make the most of living in SF by making friends and going to events.
Do not live in Shit Hole city.
It's a fully personal decision, but do consider the cost and standard of living in SF. Agree with the part of startup opportunities and tech exposure.
