“Sr” Engineer in Seattle, 3 YOE TC: 120k base & 0.1% ISOs Working at a series B startup right now. I believe the company is on track to be successful, and really enjoy my work. A facebook recruiter reached out to me and wants to set up a phone screen. Facebook would be my #1 choice for a FANG company to work for. I think if I prepared well and went through the process I could get an e4 offer. Seems like a no brainer to take the much lower risk for roughly the same reward, but I’m just curious what folks who have worked in both of these scenarios would recommend.
I'm guessing you can squeeze 200k out of Facebook in Seattle, which makes it an easy choice in my opinion.
Get the offer first and worry about leaving later
No brainier OP, go for the liquid RSUs. However, if I strongly believed in the future of the startup I'm not sure I would think about leaving. You should at least look into what it would take to excise your vested options, although for most this would be financially unviable due to the amount of cash it would take and a high risk of the startup failing (relatively speaking).
Don’t start the process until you’ve done LC for at least a month
Wow! Any pointers if “fb “ tagged questions and top 100 should be good enough. Still would take months tbh.
Having worked at a startup before, it's attractive to move on to FB I feel. However be picky about the team in FB and what you'll be working on.. Because your at a startup you probably dabble in many things so could change up a few things in your career now. Use that. Also, let the offer come :)
What role?
