Granted it’s mostly due to the fact that he’s been here longer, and stock performance, and blah blah.... but annoying as I sit in all of these 1:1s listening to people drone on, get all of the top down pressure, bigger deliverables, etc. I really just want to say that it’s annoying.
No shit that’s weak. You should celebrate the few times in your career when this happens.
Your job as a leader is to serve the people under you and make sure they’re set up for success by aligning their goals with the goals of your organization. Having the chance to lead someone more accomplished and experienced than yourself should be a privilege. But it can be super annoying. When that bums you out, imagine the alternative - you could be dealing with someone that doesn’t have nearly as much experience or ability to deliver yet because they’re fresh, and your job would be the same, you get to listen to them drone on about their problems, all the top down pressure is still there and the big deliverables but your team is less capable of delivering results because Jim is a fresh graduate instead of a seasoned stallion.
Typical shitty manager at Amazon. Nowadays Amazon mostly attracts cutthroat morons like OP
Not cutthroat just a very immature weak manager.
Don’t worry, you’ll not survive long ... unless you go cockroach mode ha ha
Roach mode, activate! 😂
You should be making even lesser and you should not be L7.
Trust me it’s better than being at snapchat. They’ve hired some senile low iq lifers from large companies who have a “bias against action” and are total hypocrites lol At least op seems to be just a bit immature
Snapchat needs more bias against action though. Need I remind you of spectacles and their new update which pissed off a lot of their user base?
I’ve made as much as twice as much as my boss. Those bosses generally saw it for what it was - I’m a TT that they can learn from and leverage. It always worked well for them long term. Turns out that you can deliver a lot more with a high performer under you. And if you want a classic hierarchy, amazon is completely the wrong place for you.
This is why I’ve never told my manager that I’m financially independent. They look at you differently after that and treat you worse.
So true. Good luck getting a raise or promotion after basically telling your manager you don’t need to be there haha. They feel like they have no leverage over you and that makes you a threat.
Huh. I’ve had the opposite experience. When you don’t need the job for income you can leave any time, and can also be completely transparent about speaking your mind
How is OP a L7 being such a whiny weak manager?
Immature
