Anyone feel as I do that Groupon ruined Chicago startup culture? Also, light bank. I can't imagine there are worse human beings. Only half serious.
What startup culture? Their "culture" is fueled by old school insurance and finance $. It's completely artificial. Groupon is the only success story and the Lightbank boys + Mason are the only ones who got rich.
I wouldn't call it a success story. It is a get rich story.
Lol at Chicago startup culture. Even if your coworking space is actually a training/Bootcamp center
Bootcamps are for future diversity hires.
Is that a reference to 1871?
What about Lightbank + Uptake?
Like others have suggested, care to elaborate? I can agree with part of this--focus on fast growth instead of sustaining business but Snap and others out West are the same.
I dont know that much about the startup culture in Chicago, but I do know that many of my talented coworkers have gone to civis analytics, snapsheet, signal, trunk club, project 44, uptake. I cant imagine how that ruins their culture.
Startup culture in Chicago is great if you stay away from the Keywell companies
This guy gets it. Brad came to the office of a company I used to work at and told everyone that they needed to work harder because he gave us good salaries and benefits. The fuck.
If you think that's bad, try coming to our 4 hour long monthly all hands
oh right. people like free shit. great company that doesn't have 4 hour company meetings.
Please elaborate. I think Groupon and Lightbank did wonders for creating a technology hub here.
What did they do to Chicago?
