Are there any resources for startup salaries and reviews of their culture? Glassdoor is kinda lacking
AngelList?
Good point. If a startup advertises jobs on angellist they have to post a salary range for it.
The reason data is often hard to get is that startups have few employees. Just wait a couple of years and if it's still around there should be good data. Alternatively, post here asking a question like "what's it like to work at X?". You never know what you might get back.
Is it advisable to work for series A startups early in your career (fresh grad/intern) or stick to corporates? Also are there any metrics that can be used to judge if a startup is worth joining?
Corporates have name brand recognition, which is good. But a very successful startup will have that too, and give you much more besides. You'll get to see and take part in the rollercoaster that is high growth, first hand. If you're any good that will give you opportunities for advancement that you would never get at a corporate. So how do you know which startups are worth joining? If you had a full proof answer to this, then you should be a VC and make billions! What I would look for: - Are they growing like crazy? - Are they well funded? - What is their runway? Better to go for one that's just completed a round and has a couple of years before they have to raise again. - Do they have a decent amount of press? Is there buzz about what they're doing? - Do the founders have a great background and/or inspire you? - Who are the investors? Solid, big name VC?
