Does asking 0.5% of companies valuation a good stock option to ask for series B company in Bay area ?

How many employees and what title/role are you being offered?

Qubole dudX01 OP Sep 15, 2018

around 60 employees and the role is that of tech lead to lead one on their new verticals.

I hate to disappoint you, but I’ve never seen a startup giving anyone lower than a VP a nickel in equity. That much would very likely have to go to the board approval. That said, you can definitely negotiate and maximize the ISOs you get by trading off base salary. It’s wise to do if you think the company has legs to get to IPO. Good luck.

Amazon S.Nadella Sep 15, 2018

Series B is too late to get that much.

StubHub FreeMasons Sep 15, 2018

You would probably get something like 0.05% and I am not kidding

McAfee okgoogl Sep 15, 2018

Senior Engineers get around 0.1% post Series B. Directors, around 0.25%.

If the startup sells for 100m, you get only 250k. Sounds like a crap deal unless you think it's the next Uber, Airbnb etc

McAfee okgoogl Sep 16, 2018

totally agree.

Oracle farthard Sep 15, 2018

0.5% around series B is pretty good

0.5% I think is fair given your role and number of employees.. https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/06/cap-tables-share-structures-valuations-oh-my-a-case-study-of-early-stage-funding/
