So a strange coincidence happened where someone I know well had his company acquired by a large, well-known, popular company days before my interview with said company. I knew this person well partially because not only was I was the top user of his previous product, but I was also recruited to become a (non-engineering) part of the company. However, I wasn't able to take the opportunity due to having a full-time engineering job. I'm also friends with another guy from the same platform who ended up being hired by them for engineering. Anyway, what I wanted to ask is - is there any way for me to link these two opportunities - the interview and the acquisition - together? It has been my dream for a long time (for very specific reasons) to work for either company, but now that they are merged, I was wondering if there was any possibility of either a) the founder/employee being able to convince his now-parent company to let me in the door or b) what I can tell or show this parent company about how my presence is an incredible asset to them beyond with engineering. (Also, if it holds any weight, I believe both were interested and tried to make moves on me at one point....) Thanks!
