TC Negotiation with Amazon

When I got a SDE2 offer from Amazon, I didn’t have any other ones and the offer is final according to HR. So I didn’t have a chance to negotiate. All of sudden, I got another offer from a different company. Can I use it to negotiate with Amazon? BTW Amazon TC is 270K/year and the other one is 290k/year.

That’s pretty good TC for SDE2 from Amazon. Definitely on the high side.

Break it down. Whats base, stock and sign on. 290K at amazon isn’t 290K. You’re not gonna stay for 4 years.

160k base 100k bonus 20 shares That is most likely the breakdown!

Yea. That’s not 290K. That’s 160K. 50K bonus and 5% shares so shares only worth 1300 year. Your true year 1 comp is 215K not 290.

$20K difference before tax isn’t going to change your life in any meaningful way. Pick the one that is better for you for all the other reasons.
