Taking a second job

I’m employed at an unnamed company(this is my old company) but have absolutely no work to do for the foreseeable future. I recently got an offer to work at a startup remotely 100%. The startup said it was fine if I maintained some level of work with existing employer until I needed to leave. The existing employer doesn’t know I got the second job. tl;dr is it illegal or immoral to have two full time roles if my capacity allows for me to focus solely on the second while pulling a paycheck from both?

Probably it’s grounds for being fired. But that’s about it.

You need to look at the employee agreement/code of conduct you signed when you joined. Most specifically call this out or say something like you must disclose if you do. Companies will want legal to verify that you arent in a conflict of interest. Rarely would this be illegal to do, but is for sure immoral if you dont get company approval. That being said, I know a lot of people that have side hustles and dont disclose...

Just do it man. If the remote job is better, that is the real fall back. Your primary job seems a layoff away from a sh*t-show
