What’s comp like at Teague for a mid/senior level designer? TC: $130k YoE: 3.5
It’s a design agency. I would be SHOCKED if they offer you anything close to your current TC. Agency pay sucks especially if you come from corporate. Please keep us posted though. Really interested.
Will do. Just sent them a pretty straightforward response asking comp details
Teague won’t come close. This also applies to agencies acquired by larger corporate entities such as HEAT and Deloitte.
Ha! Teague and Artefact and Blink do a bunch of masturbatory Dribbble-worthy shit that no serious client would pay for. The most I see them paying is $115k.
Teague could match your TC at senior designer. Teague pays well compared to other design consultancies but won't be able to compete with TC of equivalent titles at big tech companies. The primary draw for design consulting is grounded in something other than pay. I'm curious why most of the in-house folks ITT think the pay would be as low as they are setting you up to believe. Regarding the misinformative trash talk ITT, serious clients frequently pay for the services of Teague, Artefact, Blink, et al to help them research, concept, design, and ship product. To wit, Teague has worked with the majority of companies represented in this thread.
Blink said they helped NASA handle big data. Someone with limited understanding of that sphere might believe the case study, but anyone with moderate exposure to what that actually means would call bullshit immediately. Teague does smart work. Polished, too. But the better big tech companies foster innovation internally.
Thanks for the reply! “The primary draw for design consulting is grounded in something other than pay.” — what is that draw?
Would you still recommend joining Teague, given the recession/covid/Boeing issues? How stable is it right now?
Times are definitely tough on account of those issues. But, I think it would take quite a bit more for Teague to even begin to consider closing its doors. It's weathered some pretty gnarly economy and industry downturns in the past and come out the other side ultimately stronger. So, it knows how to hunker down. There have been some RiFs in the past year on account of Boeing cutting back external spending. That has affected one part of the org though. Teague is relatively large as far as design consultancies go, so there are other parts of the org that are less impacted and handling the impact in ways other than outright RiFs. I would expect hiring will slow to a near halt except for super critical recs. So, it is far from the best time to join, but "it depends". Not knowing where you are coming from and what you want also makes it difficult to assess. If you are genuinely interested, I would recommend you reach out to HR or creative directors/leads on LinkedIn. If you get a bite, they'll be forthright especially in a 1:1 format (as opposed to here). I have never seen our TA process duping or even hard selling anyone into a job. So, yeh, no harm in reaching out and asking. Good luck and stay safe.
Thank you for the detailed look into Teague! I really appreciate it. Best of luck and please stay safe as well.
Wtf is Teague
