I’ve heard some companies have decided not to sponsor H1Bs anymore bc apps are more rigorously vetted or aren’t interviewing candidates who would need H1b bc of the suspension of premium processing. Has anyone experienced that? If so, I’m a reporter with the LA Times and I’m working on a story about the current H1b system/changes and I’d love to hear what happened. You can DM me or email me at Johana.bhuiyan@latimes.com.
This is discrimination. Not interviewing solely on basis of immigration status.
Immigration status is not (can not be) a protected status under EEO law. So I don’t think it’s a discrimination.

After clearing 2 round of interview at Facebook ( first one with HR in the second one with the hiring manager) I was scheduled to go on site for the final round of interview, Facebook sent me a form to fill out with details of entry and exit to and from United States, requested copies of my Visa, and pictures of passport stamps. I submitted all the information within 24 hours. And the immigration team never got back to me, this was 4 months ago. I sent several emails to HR requesting an update on my application but they keep telling me that they're still waiting on immigration team. I'm currently on H-1B and my I-40 has not been filed. HR told me on the phone that if my I-40 has been filed they might have moved forward. PS: I have two years and 3 month remaining on my H-1B.
This doesn’t seem right. There must something more to this.
Yeah this doesn't seem right. In fact it seems like FB recruiter is giving options of other countries in case I wanna stay in US(with full relo) but I'm migration doesn't work out. And I can always come back with l1b. Do you think this is because of your Visa status, or do you think they found other more qualified candidates? It's tough to say for sure.
Why not stay the course and just fabricate a story and put "Trump" in the headline? Or is what you are doing right now gathering the unverified hearsay to do just that?
Yes. This is true
