I just received an offer from Tesla for Senior Software Engineer in Fremont, CA location. I've interviewed for IT Applications team. I feel like this on low side compared to other tech companies in the bay. Is this the normal Tesla compensation or are they low balling me. Base: 145K Stock: $200K vests over 4 years Update 9/6: I got a call from recruiter today and mentioned that the position is filled internally and they will not move forward with me. Totally ridiculous.
Yoe?
If you include "working for the mission" in your calculation, your TC would be much higher. In other words, Tesla doesn't pay what is equivalent to the current market rate. They found a lot of fools working for the mission. Find a better paying job somewhere else
Software dev at palo alto office (for vehicle side software) does pay at market rate, and probably higher if you are in AP
I heard tesla has bad WLB
Bad is an understatement
I have an interview in coming days and after seeing reviews i have no interest left
How is over there
Tesla (and SpaceX) underpay relative to market but folks there also take into account intangibles of very directly shaping the future
SpaceX SWE pay is fine relative to LA market, but LA software market sucks (excluding snap)
What is your current TC?
$180K base + 50k options over 4 years.
Lol at the 2M+ vesting over 4 years. Gotta love Elon
Normal comp, most seniors unless you are in AP get that exact comp. Ex Tesla here
