Tesla Model S 2016 or New Tesla Model 3

As title says, is Tesla Model S 2016 a good value for money or new Model 3. What are difference? Pros for Model S 2016 - free supercharging. Cons - no full Self-driving. Can it do lane changes and other stuff? I need that the most, I don't care about FSD as it's still distant promise. Model 3 pros - new tech, new battery, full self-driving hardware Cons - buying entry level model doesn't even have premium interior, long range model + Self-driving is too expensive.

Why would you buy an M3 without the features?

Credit Karma šŸØKoala OP Nov 3, 2019

Money šŸ„ŗ My company hasn't IPOed. Living on my base pay

Compass HWV39 Nov 3, 2019

Get used to it. No ipo for you. Or me.

Model S owners are just funding Model 3 anyway. Harder depreciation, and I couldnā€™t see any major differences. If you need room just get X. Model 3 is also much more efficient, smaller battery means fast charging.

So SR is also worth it with self-driving upgrade? (this I can afford :)) I saw premium interior has better speakers but other features were not something I really need.

Northrop Grumman Lambda2 Nov 3, 2019

Premium interior has sub woofer and I think 3 extra speakers. The actual drivers are the exact same. An aftermarket system like Focal will destroy any OEM speaker anyway if you really want great audio. I donā€™t think FSD is worth it $7k! Itā€™s still very much in beta. Autopilot which comes with the car will already blow your mind. SR+ seemed best balance, I didnā€™t find LR worth it. But my commute isnā€™t that long and rarely do road trips. I do think LR will depreciate harder too

You work at Credit Karma get the used car. New cars are only for FANG pay.

Credit Karma šŸØKoala OP Nov 3, 2019

I know. We better IPO else I have to keep driving used cars šŸ„ŗ I was looking for used Model 3 initially but didn't found it, that's the state of my TC in hand šŸ˜

Buying a 3 year old battery means that you lost ~20% of the real SOH. (Did BMS for 10 years)

Credit Karma šŸØKoala OP Nov 3, 2019

Tesla claims 5% battery loss. Is it really 20% in 3 years? Then aren't EVs bad choice if the battery degrades so much?

Tesla also calls its L2 system an auto pilot.

Compass HWV39 Nov 3, 2019

Up your TC. This is pathetic

Credit Karma šŸØKoala OP Nov 3, 2019

I know šŸ™ My TC on paper is high. In hand TC is the culprit, if CK IPOs my TC will be higher than FANGs for comparable levels

Compass HWV39 Nov 3, 2019

Save your money and invest!!!! Donā€™t buy these things unless youā€™re well off enough to strike a check.

Model S is way better looking, better value used. The batteries hold up great

Get the model 3. If you plan of driving to Tahoe, get the dual motor extended range. Itā€™s worth the extra money for the handling. Itā€™s the ultimate snow car.

Compass HWV39 Nov 3, 2019

A Honda Civic can get your there just as well. No need to spend money you donā€™t have.

Netflix the.oa Nov 3, 2019

I used to feel that way until I bought a Tesla.

Facebook rlBt61 Nov 3, 2019

Massively prefer my model 3 performance to the model s cars I have driven in the past. Handling is much better.
