That's it! Never going back to India.

I've been in US for 4 years now. I'm married, no kids. Till now, I used to think I would go back to India in couple of years when my H1B expires. That's why, I was never interested in GC and didn't push my managers to start GC process. Everytime I have visited India since moving to US, I hate it a little more. Everytime I come here now, I find it more dirty. People have become more intolerant, insensitive and the lack of civil sense leaves me speechless. The traffic is becoming more chaotic daily. Water issues have become worse. People are so much involved in their pretentious lives that they have no empathy towards others. I mean what went wrong with our country. How did we become like this? Growing up, I read a lot of reports about how India is going to be a great nation by 2020. Where are the people who predicted that? NRIs who say they will go back in few years, stop bullshiting. You will not go back unless something goes really wrong. Living in uncertainty and fear of immigration is so much better than living in that shithole country. I'm in India on vacation currently and just gave up today after all the frustrating experiences in last 1 week. I'm sorry for people who have to spend rest of their lives here. I'm sorry for children who will be born here. F**k high TC. Canada here I come for a better stable life. PS: I'm from north india. South india is still better :)

Agreed. It’s like a 3rd world country that’s regressed into animalistic manners

1. I got into a car accident when I was in India a few months ago , I stopped my car and ran to that person to help him get up. He was driving in the opposite direction in a broad day light and came out of no where. After he got up he started getting into verbal abuse and even got me by collar demanding for money. I had no choice but to fight, like a street fight. I am not saying things like this will not happen here , but at least people are a little civil. Believe me this is not an isolated event, it will happen all the time. Try experimenting if you don’t believe me. 2. When people , or let’s say older people ask me for my name I just say my first name. But often times they ask me for my full name. The second half just speaks of my caste. I am instantly judged. Some are nice and some are rude for no reason. We have been divided as a country to a point where sometimes unity seems like by force. I even once tried explaining some one that caste is not who you are it’s the work you do, but it was a pointless endeavor. There are hundred such things. I am not saying US in comparison is any better. There is gun problem, immigration, zero or very little family connection for Indians especially. I guess we have to pick our poison.

Why not go back and help make it better?

Come live in north india for a month. People here can't change. Instead of improving, even the main cities have become like the laggards like Bihar, and UP. People have no patience. There is no fear of law. I will be told to f**k off if I calmly try to tell people about something they are doing wrong. I'll be slapped or punched, if I try to argue a little over wrongdoing. Heck, I'm sure I will be killed if I keep on doing that.

I feel op's frustration. I moved back 3 years ago (not by choice). Ops frustration during vacation is my daily life. Moving back to Europe soon.

Good for you. All the best.

eBay CountNow Nov 3, 2018

Can you elaborate?

Uber akickntime Nov 3, 2018

It's always been that way. You've just been observant and broadened your perspective.

Veritas :( :( OP Nov 3, 2018

It was not. It was much better place. I grew up at place with wider roads, clean air, clean water, and good amount of greenery. The biggest thing is people were much more tolerable. Everything is going downhill.

Facebook Itsamario Nov 3, 2018

It’s always been that way my man. I came back to my home country for vacation and it was much less impressive than I envisioned. Probably just nostalgia

Great..crap on the country just because you are used to a certain lifestyle and cannot get it there. India was pretty much the same 4 years back, wonder how you were surviving there then and what has changed in 4 years that you cannot stand the shithole country you were born in. You have a choice to live where you have a better life but don't be an asshole. You gave up in 1 week of frustrating experiences? guess you never had to do anything by yourself in India all your life before this week.

Google WatsGoinOn Nov 3, 2018

Acceptance is the first stage of fixing. India has gotten progressively worse over the past 4 years when it comes to tolerance and accepting difference of opinion. Traffic in major cities continues to increase as more folks from villages move to cities. Temperatures are higher, thanks global warming (not India specific but worse in cities in India which were already too hot). So yes I relate with what OP is saying. Just because you have gotten used to it doesn’t mean what OP says isn’t true.

Veritas :( :( OP Nov 3, 2018

I didn't give up due to 1 week of frustrating experience. I gave up after years of frustrations and moved to US. But I always had a mindset that I'll return in few years. I guess the comfort and luxury of first world country has completely taken over now.

I am from the north too. I don't know if you are in the NCR region. Honestly, other than pollution this time when I was there I felt there was absolutely no need for anyone to leave their plush life in Delhi area for a tech job in usa. This, after having stayed in USA for over a decade and having attained the big American dream - house, German cars, citizen kids. Heck even a golden retriever and a backyard for the doggie to run around. So I've had a pretty good time here. No shitty consultant job for me. FANG companies. It all depends on how critical you take things as. Sure the lack of Civic sense can be maddenimg but ihave seen a huge, HUGE change in the right direction. The food and bar scene is awesome and I dare say better than some cities in US. Things will change more once you have a wife and realize just how socially fucled you become over the years. And oh the constant visa talks and Trump's madness starts feeling lame and tiresome after a while. Friendly Canada up north is nicer but the weather gets to the boldest and most adventurous after a while. Espl for parents as they get older.

Veritas :( :( OP Nov 3, 2018

Yes. NCR and I'm married. My family wasted 6 hours on road traveling between delhi-gurgaon in a single day last week. I had to spent almost 2 hours in bank just to close an account. I was hit by car(fortunately, no injuries) when he started reversing without looking. Instead of apologizing the guy started fighting on how dare I slap on his car. This is not how Delhi was when I left it 10 years back.

Intel Reese Nov 3, 2018

Pls elaborate on the wife thing? What happens?

Microsoft Choochoo Nov 3, 2018

You are an asshole who has no gratitude towards his country and you have no shame. You are generalizing too many things and bashing your own motherland on this forum. If you can’t contribute to your nation then atleast shut the fuck up.

OSIsoft Ebfkgn Nov 3, 2018

So true. OP is hopeless.

GE SuperWario Nov 3, 2018

For thousands of years, people always migrated to greener pastures and continue to do so. Earth is THE motherland. Gratification should always be towards people and not some random man made boundaries.

Microsoft Choochoo Nov 3, 2018

Btw I also pity on shitholes like you. You will never belong to USA or to India. If you can’t love your own country, how much will love your adopted country. You are such a loser.

Uber bcckgc Nov 3, 2018

This is illogical. The op on optimizing for a good life. What's wrong with that? By your logic all nris are bad

Microsoft Choochoo Nov 3, 2018

It’s not about what he wants to do, and being a NRI is not bad or evil. He wants to live in the USA or Pakistan it’s his choice, but demeaning his people and his country on this forum like this tells a lot about the character of OP. He is a shithole and won’t be able to love any country he goes to.

Akamai Technologies wRuV03 Nov 3, 2018

I appreciate you honesty and feel the same sometimes . But more than the frustration and utter disgust I feel sad that there is India being a country so rich in culture and tradition is still a 3rd world country today. If only more initiatives are taken up by people like us to support education at grassroots levels that way we don’t have to part of the system and still help improve the situation in the minute ways that we can. It is very hard to change people’s mentality but worth a try we owe it to the next generations from the country we come from.

Uber ggcxjj Nov 3, 2018

Moved back 5 years ago by choice... Have started regretting that.

Veritas :( :( OP Nov 3, 2018

Sorry about that.

Uber, what’s your plan now ?? Do you plan to go back sometime ?
