Totally preventable if not for extremist sanctuary policies. Get the popcorn for the long stories of how ICE, police and the rest of law enforcement are twisting reality and are not doing their jobs. Oh wait, and "Fox News?" smirks ... https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-police-chief-blasts-sanctuary-city-policies-after-previously-deported-illegal-immigrant-arrested-for-murder
Incidents are not the same as statistics.
Yeah, one of your loved ones will be murdered and raped, but the rest of the family survives. Not a statistic just unhappy accident, right?
Incidents are 100%.
This is a tragedy, and I can see that this has caused you to pause and think about what's going on at the border. You are affected, and you want to stop this. When you read news about other tragedies, for example homicide committed by the improvised in our society. Are you equally as affected and post about it on blind and want to take action to fix it? If not, why? This is an honest question, it is not a debate, or an excuse, or a judgment. I truly mean to understand why this crime is more important to you than others? Especially since others are far more numerous, and more easily avoidable. Nothing is totally preventable but you might save more lives per iota of social effort by focusing on homelessness than immigration.
i agree, illegals are way more useful than homeless people
If we posted every homeless in sf problem article on blind, then that’s all you would see on blind. There’s been two high profile deaths in the Bay Area from illegals that should have been deported. I swing left and even I see the rights point that sanctuary laws that protect violent criminals is a bad idea.
If the Federal govt wanted to stop this, they would allocate money and resources to ICE, so ICE could find and remove these people. Immigration enforcement is the sole job of the Federal govt (only fed can enforce), but they want to dump the burden and cost onto the states. States can’t even legally determine citizenship. Why isn’t the Fed doing their job instead of whining that the state isn’t allocating funds and resources to do it for them? Local police are obviously frustrated, but they’d probable be more frustrated if their money/resources started going to doing the job of the Fed. This whole thing seems like pointless political grandstanding with nobody really caring about fixing the issue.
So we relax the laws so illegals don’t get harassed, we are just supposed to write off the deaths as a ‘cost of doing business’?
That's cute, you guys think deporting someone is going to keep them out of the country and in no way could they sneak back in.
Can’t sneak in if you’re in jail.
Deporting them, and putting all kind of big ass obstacles, sure I think so. Even if it doesn't, how about we give it a try? Like the socialism and the rest of wind mills you are trying to impose, and introducing them one by one for the good of all of us.
Nice to see the San Jose police chief stand up for citizens. Stark contrast to SF and Oakland.
