Thoughts FB and G offers

Considering these offers right now. Obviously FB comp is much better but I have pretty good team match at G and Bootcamp sounds like. A bit of a team lottery.

FB e5
Base 205
Bonus 30 15% target
600 stock
100 signon
Tc 385 (410 with signon)

G L4
Base 160
Bonus? Wasn't told twrget by recruiter.
360 stock
100 signon
Tc 275 (300 with signon) assuming 15% bonus.

I'm more than 18 months at 64 so fb e5 seems closer to level of scope I'm looking for.

Current Tc 310 2018, 340+ next 12 months

My offer was even higher, 700K RSU and rest are the same. Possible if you have a competing offer.

You can choose teams at bootcamp. You’d be stupid to turn down this much money given google’s offer is valid for 1 year. Xoogler speaking here. Google is declining quickly

You mean Google is declining quickly?

Google’s offer is valid for 1 year so if op chose fb and he did not like it he can just quit and join google within 1 year

Move to Seattle and bump your FB TC by another 30%, since FB gives the same offers everywhere across the country. Also, bootcamp is awesome.

Oh I see, you are including cost of living. Take home pay is only slightly higher in wa but yes cost of living is significantly less.

Initial offer might be the same but growth will stall if it is much higher than similarly performing peers.

Obviously FB. I can’t believe how cheap G is these days. Their ego has really gone to their heads.

Their ego is going nowhere. Xooglers are joining fb in mass

I mean the execs must think they can attract and retain talent by their name alone. With those offers, I don’t doubt at all they’re experiencing major brain drain to FB, N and others.

There’s no tangible bump in name between g and f. And actually a downgrade in perks and promo velocity

Then why google wins every poll?

Because brain dead blind people think wlb is good everywhere in google and have no experience in either. Those who actually worked at both or get offers at both act differently. If you manage to get an offer and see what it’s like onsite at fb you will know.

Ask G to match FB offer and see where they go. Current comp and level difference is too much and makes FB an obvious choice unless Google comes to at least 340kish

Yup and not worth to downlevel at goog

They can give 200k base for an L5. That obviously won't happen for L4. Since OP is matched to a team already, if the director/VP really want to hire them, they can give extra equity. Has happened in the past for people with very niche skillsets (think database query optimization etc).

If they give a significant comp boost and TC comes out to 340kish, and OP really really likes the team at Google it might be worth it. Otherwise FB is an obvious choice like I said.

I'm surprised you say 205 is an insane L5 base. My current base is 200

Then why do you even ask whether you should go to G with a 160k base? 🤷‍♂️

Looks like fb is the clear winner in your case - not sure I understand what you consider to be a downside there (boot camp just means you get a chance to actually look more closely at teams, it's not a roulette where you can get forced into a bad team)

Yeah I was expecting a higher L4 offer since recruiter made a big deal about going to finance team (they knew and had proof of fb offer). This feels like a median L4 salary.
