British people keep asking if I’m on the spectrum. My reviews always say I need to work on “flexing my communication style.” Ok. I’ll bite. I’m smart and gregarious and was raised by literally crazy people—there are plenty of masking factors here. Let’s say I’m on the spectrum and have been getting away with it for decades. What the hell do I do now? How badly is this going to harm my career (folks don’t take kindly to women who can’t read a room)? How have YOU coped?
What do you mean British people keep asking you?
I am American. The only people who have asked me this are Brits at completely different times and places. I wonder if they may be more open about or aware of the autism spectrum. Just something I noticed.
Right there with you, champ. I think there’s a lot of us tbh
Perhaps why I get on so well in large engineering companies compared to smaller production units and agencies.
100% agree
