I’ve been in Fintech for about 5 years across a few different companies, and I’d say I’ve started specializing in the Fintech space. I get recruiters specifically for Fintech all the time, and sometimes for more senior roles. In general, I like Fintech, but I’m not crazy in love with it, and on a macro scale, a lot of the companies are just copying each other - which is starting to get boring. I’m wondering whether it is good for my career and my resume to continue going “deep” into Fintech, or would it be better to diversify into other areas? I’ve got a new opportunity at an ecommerce company in a senior role - but does this build or weaken my resume and future job potential?
Definitely diversify. Fintech is not a sure thing.
Even though I may be able to get more senior roles if I continue down the Fintech path?
