Traffic ticket

Would like to know if anyone has been in a similar boat, and what you did. I work as a delivery driver in Texas. I recently received a speeding ticket. I can only have so many tickets in my position, however this would place me as a first-time offender in this jurisdiction (actually first speeding ticket ever). Someone recommended I take defensive driving, but I looked it up and apparently anything over 25 mph over limit is a no-go for that, and the ticket would be the equivalent of, I believe, 27 over. Again, I don't usually drive unsafely, this was basically an empty backroad with a speed limit of what I learned was 45, and I was having a bad day. The officer was rather sharp, rude, and unprofessional and tbh I really think I was going about 5 or 6 mph less than what I was clocked at, but it was a lidar, so I don't think there's much room for error there. Is it worth going to court over, is there a way for me to take defensive driving, or should I just pay it? TC - $27k (ish)

Lidar's should be calibrated every now and then.. you can ask for a record of calibration. Cops don't usually do that because it's time consuming process. If that's out, then there is no basis for the ticket

There is a book abt traffic tickets on Amazon, see if you can find it. I think they are required to provide the calibration record

Always fight it in court. Most of the times, judges are lenient. I hired a lawyer. The judge was willing to dismiss the ticket as long as I take defensive driving. So what I would have paid as fine, I ended up giving the lawyer.

Fight it.

They may lower the speed and allow for the class. Fight it.
