Just went through the H1B transfer process between two FANGs. Same PM profile at both. Timeline: 08/13: Application submitted in premium processing 08/14: Receipt notice 08/15: Approval notice I was surprised at the speed with which USCIS made a decision. For folks transfering, these are the docs I submitted. 1)Transcripts undergrad/masters 2)Six months of payslip 3)Employment verification letter as of 08/12 since the last payslip was only until 07/31 4)Reference letter from previous manager at Amazon about the projects I did and the competencies I displayed - BAL didn't ask for it but I insisted that they add it to the application 5)Last two year W2s 6)Created my own job profile description for Labor Certificate - descriptions BAL sent were garbage. I recreated based on actual responsibilities I believe I will have in my next gig I went little overboard on 4 and 6 but I guess it might have helped.
LCA is only helpful in getting the labor department involved. No matter how well you draft, it is going to take you 7 business days to get the LCA approval. USCIS doesn't care much about the technicality of your job description a long as it is inline with the job code on your LCA. Receipt notice is emailed for premium applications so next day notice isn't a surprise. Even the decision is made within the first week for many premium applications. 2nd day decision is a little fast but I don't think you drafting your own JD or the reference letter would've prioritized your application over other applications. The reference letter might've helped in making the decision... Assuming the officer even looked at it since it is not a required document.
Are you a lawyer? USCIS definitely care about job description in the cases where specialty occupation is difficult to prove - read PM profiles. I wanted to avoid that. I know a lot of people who have gotten RFE due to specialty occupation.
Job description or reference letter didn't help prioritize your case over the other cases. But, They might've influenced the decision, that I already mentioned. By the way, your lawyer didn't care much about the job description either.
Good job
It so simple either your degree should match or you should experience
I know a SWE H1B transfer from A to G that got declined. Candidate had a CS major. So degree and experience is not the only one. This administration has made it difficult and applications are getting rejected. I just wanted to be super safe.
What were the reasons for rejection?
Congrats! What are your undergrad/grad degrees?
If the job description contains bachelors then he should bachelors in that specialty.other wise they should change jd to masters with that speciality
Going by law
Yes but I want to know OP’s specific degree situation.
CS undergrad and MBA
Congrats man..that’s lightspeed!!!
How long did BAL to take to apply with USCIS after you gave them the docs and filled out the questionnaire?
They were really quick. All documents submitted on 07/26. They submitted LCA on 08/01 and H1B on 08/13. So within two weeks of submitting docs they filed my transfer application.
Recruiter told me it’s taking 6-8 weeks overall, your experience is a relief!!
How did you get #4 done? Did you tell your manager you are leaving?
Read: Previous manager. Yes, I told him.
Wat if it was rejected? Then your manager was OK to continue in the same organization?
