Uber Freight onsite interview SF

I got Uber Freight onsite interview coming up in SF. What is the difficult level to expect. What type of algorithm and design questions. There's also laptop coding involved. SDE II level.

Try to get an interview at Uber core if you can which is most strategic to the company.

Google Westfield May 4, 2018

Agree with Zeus. Uber Freight looks like it might be on the chopping block.

Why do clueless outsiders like Westfield and Zeus see the need to comment on something they know that they know fuck all about? Freight is very important to Uber and something that is core to the company. Long term it's something everyone expects to add massively to the company's valuation and it is treated internally as such. The culture is fast paced and the work is exciting and impactful. It's one of the best teams to be at within Uber.

Why do you guys say that? Freight not doing well?

Its like working on Google Reader at Google. Or wireless routers at Apple. 50% chance that it will survive. 100% chance that it is not what Dara really cares about. The core of Uber is clearly the ride sharing platform and trying to layer more and more on top of that. Like Eats.

^ definitely don’t believe that. Outsiders know very little. Speak to the team, ask them hard questions and decide. If you feel like they’re not giving you honest answers, get a second opinion.

Freight is hitting big business milestones. Losses from freight are small compared to competitive rides / eats markets. Dara was an early investor in the competitor and excited about the space. Opportunity is huge. Smaller team and easier to make a big impact than in the rides business. Would be silly to pass up a shot at an interesting role in freight.

Interviews should be the same level of difficulty as another tech company. Ask the recruiter for a breakdown. We usually center around algorithms/ data-structures / problem-solving. Emphasis on culture fitness too. Freight is doing well as a business. It look as promising as Eats, if not more. Having said that, rank and file don’t get access to CEO’s strategy, but I would be surprised if it gets the axe.

Thanks I did get a break down of the interviews.. supposed to be 2 problem solving, 1 design and 1 behavioral with manager. Although they told to get laptop..so it's not gonna be white board coding. So I guess expected level of questions is leetcode medium/hard?

Intuit dffghgcf May 5, 2018

Was phone interview Leetcode medium/hard? Do tagged questions help? Thanks

Ericsson tombrady03 OP May 5, 2018

No I believe it was easy/medium about array manipulation..I was expecting a lot more difficult problem. Regarding tagged questions..I actually didn't prepare for Uber specific phone interview.

If you are interested in freight, apply at Flexport. We have a much broader surface area, product market fit, and scale than Uber freight.
