I drive for uber time to time and I can tell you it's messed up so much that a lot of drivers are so pissed of at ubsr that they are constantly trying to move to lyft or any other ride share app. So idk how good is it in terms of company internally just sayin it is very bad in terms of app.
yep. I drive part time for Uber and the app is shit. Lyft is far better with regard to on-boarding (they actually provide TRAINING and they have a test scenario in order to teach drivers how to use the app). You get none if that from UBER. I have a nice all leather interior American car, all I can get is UberX. makes no sense. Additionally, Uber outsources it's client and employee support to India. So if I have question or need assistance, Preet in India is answering me. And EVERYTHING is scripted so you never get a direct answer. sucks. Taking bets on the date the UBER implodes...
Keep dreaming. Bet your car on that. Maybe you can buy a Segway in return.
We have support centers taking calls in the US too. So no it's not all outsourced.
Given the perspectives so far on this thread, @youngmoni is the disconnect with your drivers one that causes concern and anything being done proactively internally if so?
180 days of change
i think uber is more focused on replacing drivers with automated cars so they are not paying attention to the concerns of their partners which is going to be the main reason uber fails.
Mobnack did you hear about the 180 days of change initiative that's going on at Uber? They are introducing All driver friendly features from now until end of year. Like for example they added tipping, and fee if drivers wait for more than 2 minutes, and even more stuff. More stuff is going to be released until end of year. Uber cares abut drivers. It will care even more from now on.
There are many more driver friendly things in the works. Autonomous will not replace humans for a very long time. There will be a long interim where autonomous will coexist with human drivers. Stay tuned.
The folks who are new at the company were not as attached to TK compared to folks who have been here 1-1.5 years or more. TK is being missed though. He was a really good leader. We are hoping to find a good CEO replacement. TK already brought the company into a good position that it should succeed if it just keeps the momentum going but to take it to the next level it deserves we need the new CEO to be good. I am hoping TK comes back at certain point in the future in some role.
That's interesting to hear (bag + uberpnw) you say you'd like to see TK back at the company one day. I didn't realize anyone at the company felt that way. Okay so two questions: 1/ What %age of employees do you think would like to see him back at the company. 2/ What is it about him that impresses you enough to allow you to forget his wrongdoings?
My work is literally no different without TK, other than the knowledge he probably would have vetoed a lot of the good recent steps
TK is absolute rockstar.. he did screw up but an amazing speaker and leader. i wish he comes back to an exec level. our CHRO from google is running the company, i feel fb is poaching a lot of ppl. on the flip side getting into Uber is hard, just like pre TK
Getting in to Uber was hard because they make even the lowest corporate position take a two hour exam before they speak to anyone. That's a huge barrier to entry for a lot of amazing talent - and don't tell me if you really want to work there you would take the exam. It had to be two hours continuous and there were many other opportunities for talented sales people to go without taking an exam (Amazon, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.). You can't ask someone to take a two hour exam without even speaking to a hiring manager or explaining the sales model. The recruiting process was broken and it was a referral culture.
much much better.
It's kinda chill. Business seems to be going fine. Personally don't feel a huge difference in my day to day
+1
+1, our Chief of HR is awesome and I feel like she really stepped up during the past months. I'm optimistic about the future.
